cheers to another thursday’s thing – and cheers to tomorrow being friday. (!!!)
however, here in boston we are due for ANOTHER
snowstorm
so I will try to bundle up as much as I can this
weekend!
around this time of year
(ok, all year round because I’m addicted)
I cannot get through a day without
2493497 coats of chapstick.
I’ve tried them aaaaall.
eos. burt’s bees. blistex.
rosebud salve. carmex.
nivea. vaseline.
bonne bell.
seriously, you name it.
but at least once a season, I go back to the
original.
Chap Stick Brand CLASSIC Original
now I know this might sound a bit boring to a be
‘fav thing’
but to me, this is so much more than a stick of chap (huh?)
every time i smell or see this tiny little stick
I get a rush of my dad.
no matter where we were, what we were doing,
what he was wearing, what time of year…
he always carried Chap Stick Original
in his pocket
and it may sound weird,
but if I were with him, I would rather ask to use his then use my own.
It was the perfect temperature…
not cold so that you could barely smear some on your lips without cracking
them.
not too hot so that it was all melty.
but a perfect warm from being in his pocket for hours to coat your lips.
funny how a smell can bring back so much...
a few weeks ago, the hubbi and I headed to Advance Auto Parts (exciting I
know)
and the smell of oil, tires, grease brought tears to my eyes.
I could still picture him working in his garage,
wearing his dirty workboots, ripped jeans, and belt…
the sound of the welding machine mixed with the radio that never
had clear reception.
It was wonderful reliving that moment.
I even wandered down the cleaning aisle and opened a jar of the
industrial GOJO Orange to add to the experience.
do you have a fav
thing that brings you back to somewhere/someone?

page to see the rest of my favs.

The smell of Cherry Chapstick always takes me back to middle school! I'm not sure why, I must have used it for the first time at that age or something. I just get this sensation that I'm back in 7th grade and that my possibilities are endless. :)
ReplyDeleteWhenever I smell Tide laundry detergent I think of my husband. When we first started dating and he was living at home he would wash his clothes with Tide and it always brings me back. xx. McKenna Lou

My mom always used Vicks...I love the smell of it - always reminds me of her and I use it on my lips at night.
