i live and breath contacts. and i hate it.
the first thing i do in the morning and the last thing i do at night is poke myself in the eye. ew.
so, i thought maybe if i got a cute new pair of glasses, i could change up my look every once in a while. {and give my peepers a break}

then one day in the mail i got a flyer from Coastal, an eyewear company, that GIVES you your FIRST PAIR FREE.

first of all, who woulda thunk you could get a FREE pair of glasses?
well, you pay S&H, but seriously, these were like $14. cray cray.

old specs = hand-me-down frames - bought new lenses over 5 yrs ago {can't even see out of them anymore}
new specs = derek cardigan 7004 'rootbeer' - geek chic fab?

lastly, ignore the messy side braid, this was after our day of flying home from vaca... 
and my "free" package welcomed us at the door; i didn't have time to style while ripping the box open.
